January is Open Enrollment Month

Minnesota's public school students all have the opportunity to apply to attend public schools outside the school district in which they live. Families must apply to the school district of their choice by the priority filing date of January 15 for the following school year, although different districts have different deadlines. Parents and NCLB

Parental involvement is a critical component of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), a federal law affecting K-12 education. NCLB holds schools accountable for student outcomes.

How are Minnesota schools performing?

NCLB says that all public schools have to meet some basic standards. If your child’s school is not meeting those standards after two years, your child may be able to receive two services, supplemental educational services (SES) and school choice.

NCLB also says that public school teachers need to be highly qualified.
